MOLINE — “Under the Tent of Abraham” is the theme for this year’s Muslim-Jewish-Christian Women’s Dialogue in the Quad Cities. The Moline mosque, Masjid Al-Ihsan, at 6005 34th Ave., will host the gathering.
Sessions will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Mondays, Sept. 24 and Oct. 1. They are free and no registration is required.
The first evening will focus on two questions: “Who is God to you? How does knowing God impact your life?” The second evening will move to faith in action as the women consider local and global issues and how they can address them individually and as a faith community, according to Dr. Talia Alvi, outreach coordinator for the Muslim Community of the Quad Cities.
Also involved in planning this year’s dialogue are Sister Catherine Cleary, OSB, of St. Mary Monastery in Rock Island, and Linda Golden of Temple Emanuel in Davenport, Iowa.
Both evenings will include prayers from each of the faith traditions and plenty of time for discussion, which is what people come for, Dr. Alvi said.
Light refreshments will be served.
“I do not know how to do justice to how crucial this (dialogue) is. It’s vital,” Dr. Alvi said, noting that the only way to dispel fear is by fostering understanding and standing together against violence.
“We have to say it’s not OK,” she told The Catholic Post. “You hurt all of us when you hurt one of us.”
