Forbes joins OSF HealthCare as top medical, clinical officer

Dr. Kathleen Forbes has accepted the new position of chief medical officer and chief clinical officer for OSF Healthcare System in Peoria. She started June 1 and reports directly to Kevin Schoeplein, CEO for OSF Healthcare System.

She will provide leadership for clinical programs, including assisting in setting goals, resource management, implementing improvement and measuring clinical performance. In addition, Dr. Forbes will help in the clinical transformation and integration of care across the care continuum — within and beyond OSF — and be responsible for leadership activities of the e-ICU program, supportive care, SimNext Simulation Center and the OSF Innovation & Value Creation Center.

She comes to OSF from the University of North Texas in Fort Worth, where she had served as the executive vice president of clinical affairs and business development for UNT Health Science Center and the president and CEO of UNTHealth since 2008.

Dr. Forbes earned her medical doctorate from the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo and completed her family medicine residency at Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio. She is a member of the American College of Physician Executives and the American College of Healthcare Executives.
