Behold, an amazing day for all Catholic women

In only its third year, the Behold Conference has gone from a parish-based, grassroots gathering promoting the dignity and vocation of women to a major annual Catholic event that is drawing interest well beyond central Illinois. That doesn’t happen without a lot of prayer, hard work, and Holy Spirit-inspired creativity — traits plainly evident in the dynamic, faith-filled and tech-savvy women behind this growing event.

This year’s conference is expected to draw more than 500 women to the Embassy Suites Conference Center in East Peoria next Saturday, March 10, for a day exploring the theme “From the Heart of God.”

Keynote speaker is Kate Wicker, one of several prominent Catholic women bloggers who will be present as Behold highlights Catholic new media. Also present will be a musical recording artist, an image consultant, and a contingent from the New York-based Sisters of Life. The daylong schedule in the heart of Lent also includes Mass, adoration, reconciliation, food and new friendships.

In Scripture, the word “behold” is used when something important is about to be said. It’s a well-chosen title for this inspirational gathering. If you act quickly, you may still be able to be a part of this year’s conference. Find more information online at beholdconference.com. — Thomas J. Dermody
