Candle blessing ceremony Nov. 2 at Calvary Mausoleum

ROCK ISLAND — Blessed candles will be placed at gravesites in Calvary Cemetery here at 9 a.m. on All Souls Day.

The remembrance candles will be blessed at the mausoleum, 2901 12th St., on Wednesday, Nov. 2. While the candles will be placed by cemetery staff, friends and families are invited to attend the blessing ceremony.

The candles, which are in glass containers and marked with the names of the deceased, are designed to remain lit for approximately 72 hours, weather permitting. Candles purchased in memory of loved ones who are buried elsewhere will be placed in the Garden of St. Francis.

The cost to take part in the remembrance candle program is $6.75 per candle. Checks made payable to “Calvary Cemetery” may be sent to Calvary Cemetery Association, 2901 12th St., Rock Island, IL 61201.
Please include your name, address and telephone number, as well as the names of the deceased and where they were buried.
