Participants are invited to join a “National Friends of the Poor” walk scheduled from 3 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, on the grounds of St. Vincent de Paul Parish, located at the corner University Street and Northmoor Road in Peoria.

A nationwide event sponsored by the St. Vincent de Paul Society, this marks the first time a local walk will be hosted within the Diocese of Peoria. Proceeds benefit the various local conferences of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, which offer person-to-person aid to the poor and needy.

Support can be offered either by being a walker, supporting a walker, or by making a donation. Sign up can be done online at Friends of the Poor Walk or prior to the event itself.
