Metamora parish to host circus on Thursday, Aug. 25

METAMORA — The circus is coming to town and children in the Metamora area can thank St. Mary’s Parish for it.

St. Mary’s is sponsoring a visit by the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus, which will set up on the church grounds on Thursday, Aug. 25. The midway and box office will open at 4 p.m. and performances are scheduled for 5 and 7:30 p.m.

The line-up for each 90-minute show includes such acts as Miss Simone and her amazing single trapeze, Miss Lana’s Feathered Friends, The Arlise Troupe on their unicycles, and the performing Jungle Cats, which will be presented by Trey Key.

The first act comes between 9:30 and 10 a.m., however, when the Big Top is raised. Those who come are welcome to stay for a free tour that will give families, schoolchildren and members of the community an opportunity to meet the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus “family.”

Advance tickets for the performances are $6 for children ages 2 to 12 (children younger than 2 may attend for free), and $9 for adults. They are available at MTCO, Heartland Bank, the church office at (309) 367-4407, or school office at (309) 367-2528.

Tickets on the day of the show will be $7 for children and $12 for adults.
To purchase advance tickets with a credit card, call (866) BIG TOP 6.
