Theology on Tap in Peoria lists July sessions, speakers
Young Catholic adults are invited to discuss their faith in a relaxed setting on Wednesday evenings in July during the 2011 Theology on Tap series in Peoria.
Topics and speakers for the four sessions — all to begin at 6:30 p.m. at Kelleher’s Irish Pub, 619 S.W. Water St. in Peoria — have been announced by the diocesan Office of Evangelization as follows:
July 6 — “Spiritual but not Religious,” featuring Father Patrick Henehan, pastor of St. Jude Parish in Peoria and diocesan director of the council of high school chaplains. Ordained in 1998, Father Henehan will discuss if religion and spirituality are mutually exclusive or dependent.
July 13 — “John Paul II and the New Sexual Revolution of Truth,” led by Craig and Amy Dyke. Craig is associate director of the diocesan Office of Family Life and moderates Pre-Cana Conference days. With his wife, Amy, the Dykes lead Engaged Couple Encounter weekends, instruct couples in natural family planning, and offer marriage enrichment date nights at their local parish.
July 20 — “That You did Unto Me: Catholic Social Teaching,” by Sister Ana Pia Cordua, SCTJM, newly appointed president and director of mission and ministry for Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Peoria.
July 27 — “Stump the Bishop,” featuring Bishop Daniel R. Jenky, CSC. Those attending are invited to bring their questions about the faith for Bishop Jenky, who has served as Bishop of Peoria since 2002 and formerly studied, taught and ministered at the University of Notre Dame.
Participants in Theology on Tap are encouraged to bring their friends. Food and drink will be available for purchase, with the talks scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. For more information, call Craig Dyke at (309) 677-7651 or e-mail cdyke@cdop.org.
