STREATOR — Bishop Daniel R. Jenky, CSC, will join members of St. Michael the Archangel Parish this Sunday, June 26, for a Mass and procession in honor of the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. During the 1 p.m. liturgy, Bishop Jenky will install Father Philip Halfacre as the new pastor.

An ice cream social will follow in the parish hall, which is adjacent to the church at 801 Lundy St.

Last week the Congregation of Clergy in Rome upheld Bishop Jenky’s decision to establish St. Michael the Archangel Parish and his decree merging the parishes of St. Anthony, St. Stephen, St. Casimir and Immaculate Conception.

In a letter to parishioners, he said the Corpus Christi Mass and procession “affords us the opportunity to implore God’s blessing upon the one Catholic parish of Streator as you continue to build a single family of faith.”
