Catholic high schools in diocese to graduate 706 seniors
The seven Catholic high schools of the Diocese of Peoria have scheduled graduation ceremonies and Masses for their 706 seniors in the coming weeks.
In Peru, a graduation Mass for the 61 seniors of St. Bede Academy will be celebrated at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, at St. Bede Abbey Church. A reception will follow. The Academy’s 119th commencement will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 22, also at St. Bede Abbey Church.
In Champaign, the Baccalaureate Mass and graduation exercises at The High School of Saint Thomas More will begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, in the school gymnasium. The Mass will be celebrated by Father Robert Lampitt, with Father Patrick Henehan as guest homilist. There are 95 members of the Class of 2011.
In Bloomington, the 118 graduating seniors from Central Catholic High School will gather for Mass and commencement exercises at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 22, at St. Patrick Church of Merna. Msgr. Jerry Ward will be celebrant, and the scheduled homilist is Father Ric Schneider, OFM. Speaking at the graduation will be Matthew Feeney, valedictorian, and Stacie Cler, salutatorian.
In Danville, the 63rd graduation exercises of Schlarman High School will begin at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, May 22, with a Mass at Holy Family Church. Schlarman has 45 graduating seniors.
In Ottawa, the Baccalaureate Mass for Marquette Academy will be celebrated at 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, at St. Patrick’s Church. The Academy’s 46 seniors will receive their diplomas a week later during graduation ceremonies at 3 p.m. on Monday, May 29, in Bader Gym.
In Rock Island, a Baccalaureate Mass for the 113 seniors of Alleman High School will be celebrated by Father Keith Walder at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 26, at St. Anne’s Church in East Moline. Graduation exercises begin at 8 p.m. on Friday, May 27, at Augustana College’s Centennial Hall. Dr. Brian Wolf, an associate professor of orthopedic surgery at the University of Iowa’s College of Medicine and an Alleman alum, will be guest speaker.
Peoria Notre Dame’s Baccalaureate Mass and Graduation will begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 5, at the Peoria Civic Center. Msgr. William Watson will be principal celebrant of the Mass. The school has 198 graduating seniors.
