Sister Virginia Ann Glogowski, OSF, dies; funeral Monday
WEST PEORIA — A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the chapel of Immaculate Conception Convent at 7 p.m. Monday, March 14, for Sister Virginia Ann Glogowski, OSF.
A native of Peru, Ill., Sister Virginia Ann died Thursday morning, March 10, at Mother of Peace Home in West Peoria. She was 86.
Visitation willl be from 3:30 to 7 p.m. on Monday, March 14, at Immaculate Conception Convent, 2408 W. Heading Avenue. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery on Tuesday, March 15, at 9 a.m.
She entered the Sisters of St. Francis of the Immaculate Conception (Heading Avenue Franciscans) on Sept. 17, 1942, and was in her 66th year of religious profession.
Sister Virginia Ann taught at schools and served in social work at parishes around the dioceses of Peoria and Springfield including Sacred Heart School, Moline; Guardian Angel Home, Peoria; Immaculate Conception School/Catholic Consolidated School, Spring Valley; St. Philomena’s School, Peoria; St. Mary’s Schools in Canton, Henry, and Metamora; Sacred Heart School, Annawan, and St. Joseph’s School, Pekin.
She served in pastoral care at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria from 1983 to 1995 and at St. Joseph’s Home in West Peoria from 1998 to 2005.
In addition to the Franciscan Sisters with whom she shared her life, Sister Virginia Ann is survived by her sister-in-law, Norma Glogowski, as well as nephews and nieces.
Memorials may be made to the Retirement Fund of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Immaculate Conception.
