First diocesan conference for widowed, divorced planned
Bishop Daniel R. Jenky, CSC, will host the first Diocesan Conference for Widowed and Divorced on Saturday, June 26, at the Spalding Pastoral Center in Peoria.
The conference will feature keynote presentations and 14 workshops on topics of special interest to persons who are widowed and divorced.
Workshop topics include Five Keys to Healing; Annulments; Dating and Intimacy; Finances; Grief; Christian Hope; Keeping the Faith When a Spouse Dies; Single Parenting; and Prayer, According to Fulton Sheen.
Serving as guest speakers are Vince Frese and Lisa Duffy from Journey of Hope Productions near Atlanta, Ga. Workshop presenters include Deacon Greg Serangeli, Sister Marianne Burkhard, Brian Osmulski, Carolyn tiger, Joseph Piccione, Msgr. William Watson, Sister Diane VandeVoorde, OSF, Donna Medina, and Julie Enzenberger.
The conference opens at 8:30 a.m. with continental breakfast and morning prayer with Bishop Jenky. The bishop will celebrate Mass with conference attendees at 4 p.m. at nearby St. Mary’s Cathedral. The opportunity for the sacrament of reconciliation will be offered throughout the day.
The conference fee of $40 includes breakfast, lunch and materials. Financial assistance is available.
