260 fans and counting: Follow The Catholic Post on Facebook

As The Catholic Post transitions to a biweekly publication with this issue, we begin a boost of our presence in the digital world of communications to keep our readers informed between deadlines.

In addition to daily updates of our Web site, thecatholicpost.com, the newspaper this week launches its own page on the social networking site Facebook. As of Tuesday, March 15, we already have 260 “fans.”

Facebook is an interactive site open to anyone age 13 or older who has an e-mail address. Claiming more than 400 million active users, it has become a popular way for family, friends, and people of common interests to stay in touch.

By becoming a “fan” of The Catholic Post on Facebook, readers can be alerted to breaking news stories, be linked to important new content on our Web site and around the Catholic press, view photos from events that did not make it into the print publication, and more.

For example, the site debuted this week with additional photos from Wednesday’s Catholics at the Capitol rally (see front page coverage) as well as a link to a slideshow of dozens of photos from Bloomington Central Catholic’s state championship basketball win (see pages 8 and 9).

Current Facebook users can become a “fan” of The Catholic Post by searching for the newspaper’s name and then clicking “Become a fan.” Those not presently on Facebook can join in minutes at www.facebook.com, and then search for “The Catholic Post.”
