St. Bede Abbey and Academy in Peru has a new director of development. She is Donna Aleksy, a Peru businesswoman who brings with her 28 years of development experience from both the public and private sectors.
She assumed her new duties on Feb. 1.

Officials said her knowledge and background in the St. Bede community made her a strong choice.

Aleksy is the mother of two St. Bede graduates, Adam (Class of 2000) and Gina-Marie (Class of 2002). In addition, she and her husband, Don, chaired the annual auction and dinner in 2003 and have been active in the Bedan Club.

“We’ve always wanted to make certain that the tradition was carried on,” Aleksy said.

The opportunity to get involved in development work at St. Bede was attractive because she often found herself thinking, “What if we could do this?” or “What if we could do that?”

Affiliated with Tupperware Brands Co. for 18 years, she continues to serve as an executive director. Aleksy explained that relationship building is a byproduct of doing that kind of leadership training, which will help her to achieve her goal of keeping alumni of all ages connected to St. Bede ? or find ways to get them reconnected to their alma mater.
