Fr. Brunskill’s mother dies; funeral Saturday in Pontiac

PONTIAC — A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at St. Mary’s Church here for Jayne L. Brunskill, 95, the mother of three children including Father Richard Brunskill, a priest of the Diocese of Peoria on senior status.

Mrs. Brunskill died at 2:40 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011 at the Piper City Rehab & Living Center.

Msgr. Thomas Mack will be principal celebrant of the funeral Mass, while Father Brunskill will officiate at interment services at Esmen-Camp Cemetery in rural Pontiac.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday prior to Mass at the church.
Born Sept. 1, 1915, in Pontiac to Albert and Florence Solma Tallman, she married Byron Brunskill in February 1936. He preceded her in death March 3, 1977.

She is survived by one daughter, Barbara Brunskill, Piper City; two sons, Craig (Maria) Brunskill, Normal, and Father Brunskill, Piper City; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Vernette; one brother, Richard; nieces and nephews; and many good friends.

After raising her three children, Mrs. Brunskill pursued a career as a phlebotomist for nearly 20 years, before becoming a licensed practical nurse in 1978. Among the institutions she served was St. James Hospital in Pontiac. She retired from the nursing profession in 1995.

A member of St. Mary’s Parish in Pontiac, Mrs. Brunskill helped begin the Perpetual Adoration Society at St. Mary’s Church. She was also active at Grace Episcopal Church for many years before she became Catholic in 1974.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name for Masses or to the Jayne L. Brunskill Memorial Fund.
