Bishop Jenky’s Christmas message: “Reason for Hope”
And Mary laid him in a manger because there was no room for them in the inn. (cf. Luke 2:1-14)
To the Clergy, Religious and Faithful of the Diocese of Peoria
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
The poverty and simplicity of that first Christmas morning is something that we can all relate to in these challenging times. And yet we also find immense reason for hope and celebration in this reality. God, who is infinitely rich, chose to share in our human poverty and struggles. The Light of God with us, Emmanuel, fills us with tremendous joy. May we use this Light to draw the strength we need to overcome the obstacles of this world so that we may all reap the riches of the world that is to come.
May the Babe born in the stable continue to fill us all with heavenly treasures!
Come, Let us adore Him!
Wishing you all the joys of this Christmas Season!
Most Reverend Daniel R. Jenky, C.S.C.
BISHOP OF PEORIA
