Muslim-Catholic Women’s Dialogue set in Rock Island
ROCK ISLAND — Living together in respect, peace and love is the focus of the fourth annual Muslim-Catholic Women’s Dialogue, which is being hosted by Benet House Retreat Center at St. Mary Monastery, 2200 88th Ave. West.
The dialogue opens on Monday, Oct. 5, by looking at “Finding and Maintaining Inner Peace Among Family and Friends.” Panelists will be Sophia Farooqui, a Davenport para-educator, and Elizabeth Swanson, a Cistercian associate and spiritual director in the Quad City area.
“Peace Making in the Community and Beyond” is the topic for the closing session, which will be held the following Monday, Oct. 12. Speaking that evening will be Lisa Zaynab Killinger, DC, outreach coordinator for the Muslim community of the Quad City area, and Barbara Roedel, pastoral associate at St. Pius X Parish in Rock Island.
Both dialogue sessions are scheduled for 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Because space is limited, reservations are requested. Call Jackie Walsh, a novice with the Sisters of St. Benedict, at (309) 283-2108, or send e-mail to retreats@smmsisters.org.
