All widowed and divorced persons in the Diocese of Peoria are invited to a Mass celebrated by Bishop Daniel R. Jenky, CSC, at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Peoria.

A reception with the bishop will follow at the Spalding Pastoral Center.

“These are people who grieve the loss of a spouse and are adjusting to being re-singled,” said Bishop Jenky in issuing the invitation. “I want to console them and encourage them to seek the Heart of Jesus, the soul of all consolation.”

The bishop said the event is designed to welcome the widowed and divorced community to the diocesan church and share with them how important they are to its life. The lay liturgical roles in the Mass will be filled by widowed and divorced persons.
