Pay a visit to ‘Nazareth House’
I f you are one of the thousands whose faith life has been enriched by the presence of King’s House of Retreats in Henry, this week is for you. If you are unaware of this treasure of the Diocese of Peoria or the staff of dedicated religious women staffing the facilty, it’s also your week.
At 1 p.m. this Tuesday, Sept. 15, Bishop Daniel R. Jenky, CSC, will celebrate an outdoor Mass at King’s House and officially re-name the property “Nazareth House.” Among the guests of honor will be Mother Adela Galindo, founder of the Miami-based Servants of the Pierced Hearts of Jesus and Mary — which now directs and staffs King’s House — as well as her entire religious community and members of its lay branch.
It should be quite a celebration, and it’s open to the public. A lunch reception will follow. If you can’t make it, you can also join the bishop and the religious community at a night of prayer and spiritual renewal at St. Mary’s Cathedral the preceding night at 7 p.m.
In any case, an ideal way to celebrate the new name is to learn more about the many offerings at our diocesan retreat center, schedule a retreat or visit, or simply get to know the Sisters and their mission. You can call them anytime at (309) 364-3084. — Thomas J. Dermody
