Bishop Joseph N. Perry, an auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Chicago, will join the Diocese of Peoria’s celebrations of the 114th anniversary of the birth of Servant of God Fulton J. Sheen.
Bishop Perry will be the guest homilist at the 7:15 p.m. Mass on Friday, May 8, at St. Mary’s Cathedral. A member of the Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen Foundation’s board of directors, Bishop Perry serves as episcopal vicar for one of six vicariates of the Archdiocese of Chicago, having the care of 75 parishes, two missions, an oratory, 30 grade schools, seven high schools, 96 priests and 250,000 Catholics.
After Mass will be a birthday party, “An Evening of Conversation with Archbishop Sheen,” at the Spalding Pastoral Center. Champagne and desserts will be served at the gathering, which will feature personal stories from people who knew or were touched in their lives by Archbishop Sheen.
