Pro-life activist Scheidler to speak in Henry May 6
HENRY — Joseph Scheidler, national director of the Pro-Life Action League, will deliver a talk on Wednesday, May 6, at St. Mary’s Parish Center, 401 South St.
Scheidler’s talk, to begin at 6 p.m., is sponsored by the Henry Knights of Columbus. It is open to the public and there is no charge to attend.
Scheidler will speak on the spiritual dimensions of the pro-life movement and the role of the Knights of Columbus in the battle to protect human life.
A nationally known speaker on the abortion issue and the importance of pro-life activism, Scheidler is the author of “CLOSED: 88 Ways to Stop Abortion,” and has produced videos on peaceful pro-life demonstrations and sidewalk counseling.
Due to their activism, in 1986 he and other pro-life protesters were sued by the National Organization for Women under a federal mob racketeering statute. They were convicted in 1998, but the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the verdict in 2003.
