PEORIA HEIGHTS — As Lent begins, an introduction to contemplative prayer and outreach will be offered on Saturday, Feb. 28, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the library at St. Thomas School, Peoria Heights.

Florrie Dammers of Bloomington will present the session, focusing on contemplative prayer as taught by Father Thomas Keating, OCSO. The day will include the theological background of the prayer, its method and place in Christian life as well as its practice.

Participants will have the opportunity to practice with two groups that meet weekly.

A free will offering will be received to defray costs. Participants should bring a brown bag lunch.
