Franciscans invite women to overnight retreat Jan. 30
THE COMPASSION of Jesus will be the focus of an overnight retreat for women ages 18 to 40 to be offered in West Peoria later this month by the Sisters of St. Francis of the Immaculate Conception, also known as the Heading Avenue Franciscans.
The retreat begins with a 6 p.m. dinner on Friday, Jan. 30, at Immaculate Conception Convent, 2408 W. Heading Avenue. It will conclude at about 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31.
Father Larry Zurek, OFM, pastor of Sacred Heart and St. Joseph parishes in Peoria, will guide the discussions and make the sacrament of reconciliation available. The retreat will also include exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, faith sharing and time for personal reflection.
There is no charge to attend the retreat. However, to plan for accommodations and food, a reservation is required by Thursday, Jan. 22. Reservations and inquiries should be directed to Sister Paula Vasquez at (309) 674-6168.
Founded in 1891, the Heading Avenue Franciscans serve in the dioceses of Peoria and Springfield. More information about the Sisters can be found online at www.westpeoriasisters.org.
