Peoria Notre Dame names 2008 Distinguished Alumnus

Margie Wagner of Peoria has been named recipient of Peoria Notre Dame High School’s 2008 Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen Distinguished Alumnus Award.

She was recognized at the school’s Homecoming Mass Sept. 26.

A 1953 graduate of Academy of Our Lady, one of the schools that would merge to become Peoria Notre Dame, she went on to earn a degree from Clarke College in Dubuque, Iowa.

Wagner has served as president of the St. Philomena Ladies Guild, served on her parish council, and volunteered in many capacities at Paeoria Notre Dame as well as the Salvation Army. She has received the highest adult Girl Scout Award (the Thanks Badge) as well as the highest Catholic recognition in Girl Scouting (the St. Anne Award).

Peoria Notre Dame officials praised Wagner for letting God be her guide, saying “she has dedicated her life to God, to her family and to service to others.”

The mother of four and grandmother of nine, she is married to John Wagner of Peoria.
