The Peoria Diocese portion of the National Eucharistic pilgrimage will take place May 19-21, 2025.
Upon hearing the news of the national pilgrimage earlier this year, Bishop Louis Tylka invited the National Eucharistic Congress to journey through the Diocese of Peoria, as the “home of Venerable Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen, who promoted a great devotion to Jesus in the Eucharist through a daily Holy Hour.”
As well, Bishop Tylka was excited that the timing of the pilgrimage would allow it to be integrated into the Diocese of Peoria’s 150th Anniversary celebrations in 2025.
PRELIMINARY ITINERARY
Bishop Tylka’s invitation has been accepted and the Diocese of Peoria will receive the pilgrimage from the Diocese of Joliet on May 19 and transition the pilgrimage to the Diocese of Davenport on May 21.
Further details are expected to be confirmed in the coming days and weeks. At this point, the preliminary itinerary is as follows:
The Peoria Diocese portion of the pilgrimage will begin in the northern part of the diocese on May 19. After making yet-to-be-decided stops on the way to Peoria, St. Mary’s Cathedral will play host to the pilgrimage on the afternoon and evening of May 20, and the diocesan portion is expected to end in the southwest of the diocese.
DAILY SCHEDULE FULL
The overall national plan is to launch from Indianapolis and cross the country, concluding in Los Angeles on the feast of Corpus Christi on Sunday, June 22, 2025.
The daily schedule will include Mass, followed by times of walking, procession, and the hosting of events centered on the Eucharist for parishes including Adoration, witness talks and service projects.
Further information on the Peoria portion of the pilgrimage will be made available as plans are finalized.
